Kimi Hannin Janai yo ne? ep. 1
Highly amused.

It’s obvious who is the criminal actually.
The premise:
Morita Sakura (Kanjiya Shihori) has an exceptional memory, and she strives to be a mystery author. However, she was told that she doesn’t have the talent in writing, but was offered instead a job as a part-time assistant to two popular mystery writers.
One month after she started working, one of the writers was found dead in a apparently locked room. The police were prone to conclude it as suicide, but Sakura and detective Udakawa Norio (Kaname Jun) did not think so. Udakawa comes from a family with an amazing background and as a result his colleagues were extremely reluctant to engage him in dangerous investigations. In attempt to prove himself as a detective, he hires Sakura on a part-time basis to help him with the investigation. And so Sakura and Udakawa started the journey in solving this locked room mystery…
Why did I watch this?
1. Because I am obsessed with mystery dramas.
2. Kanjiya Shihori’s performance in Furin Kazan left a deep impression upon me, albeit only three episodes.
3. This is basically the closest Kaname Jun has ever been to syuyaku (leading role). :3
Impression:
Highly amusing. Generally a light and funny series, and I think the premise is pretty unique. At least this is the first time I’ve seen a detective hiring a part-time to help him with his investigations!
Basically we see how Sakura changes from one outfit from another, as she switches from part time to the next. I wanted to screencap her different outfits, but I figured I shall not give any spoilers XD.
Yes I admit that Sakura is smart and cool. However, I feel that Udakawa is way more interesting a character. He did more interesting things than Sakura did, ranging from falling in love with a female suspect, losing all ethics because of her to banging his head/falling down throughout the entire episode. It’s obvious that he wants to prove his capability and he did make several notable observations, but he still incapable, much to my amusement XD.

Kaname-san, because your wtfreak look is amusing XD
It’s not hard to catch the plot, as compared to other mystery dramas such as Galileo and Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo. The logic behind the mechanics of the crime is simple yet smart, which is something I really like at this point. With simpler cases I was able to put more of my attention on the characters and observe how amusing they are.
There seems to be a huge secret/mystery about Sakura’s childhood, but I’m not really interested in this plot to be frank. We’ll have to see how the plot develops…hopefully it won’t be too cliche.
Next episode:
I figured every suspect in this series will be a lady, and Udakawa will fall in love with all of them XD. Well at least it looks like he’ll fall in love with the suspect in the next episode.
